Whats Is Stay Home Stay Safe Campaign?

Young people around the world are being affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The mass shutdown of schools in more than 150 countries, orders to stay at home and the fear of contracting the virus are among the ways in which their lives have been impacted.

Coronavirus is spreading, and you may not know you’re infected until you’ve already infected others. Some individuals in our community are more vulnerable to coronavirus, and we need to do our part to keep them safe and stop the spread. Pakistani youth has stepped up in the past against natural calamities, this time too they would step up and contribute during times of great duress.

Youth For Pakistan, a national level youth based non-profit organization has launched a nation-wide a digital and social advocacy campaign, “Stay Home, Stay Safe” in Pakistan with hashtag #StayHomeStaySafe for safety from coronavirus.

  • By staying at home, you’re doing your part to confront this pandemic and minimize community spread of coronavirus.
  • Stay home to protect yourself, your loved ones, your neighbors and our community. Every one of us is safer at home.
  • Stay home to protect our frontline workers in Pakistan and give them a fighting chance to beat this disease and save lives.

Government of Pakistan, health experts continuously urging the peoples to engage more strongly in the fight against the COVID-19 by staying at home and there is no need for panic.

Rather than resorting to fear or panic, YFP is providing a more impactful response: informing themselves and helping others by following three simple actions:

1. Stay informed and ensure others do too

As fear spreads faster than facts, inform yourself about the virus. Deepen your knowledge and point others to trusted information. This will go a long way to debunk myths and build resilience in your community.

If you or your hub want to take action, enrol in the WHO’s open online course that provides a general introduction to COVID-19 and how to protect yourself and others. Courses are free: know the facts before you act.

2. Take action to keep your community safe.

When you’re young and healthy, your risk of developing severe illness is lower. So consider those in your community who are most vulnerable, including older persons and persons with pre-existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, cancer or diabetes). Do your best to support them.

Encourage others to take precautions, including washing your hands regularly, keeping a social distance from others and staying home when you’re sick. Basic actions like this can help limit the virus’ spread and its impact on public health, society and the economy.
